I recently ran across a fun article of the 10 best meats and 10 worst meats. I loved the article because it gave me a good food ideas. Here’s the thing though, I was looking at the “10 worst meats” for my healthy alternatives. Unfortunately, many health or food websites are still going off of the outdated notion that saturated fat and salt are unhealthy. Within the last ten years scientific data has completely crushed the myth of saturated fats being unhealthy or the ridiculous salt and hypertension crap.
In fact, fat and salt are really important for normal body functions. Reducing salt can have a number of consequences such as nausea, fatigue, drop in blood pressure, reduced oxygen flow, cramps, and even more. Reducing fat intake can effect vitamin absorption by the body, dry skin, brain fog, and cramps.
It’s hard to gulp down the fact that salt and fat are healthy, but forget how you feel, just focus on the evidence and research done in the field. There is NO reliable evidence that suggests salt and fat are harmful, but JUST the opposite!
Bacon and prosciutto for example are put in the bad meats, but they’re such nutritional power houses! They have a great amount of protein, fat and sodium. They usually don’t have any preservatives and they’re very tasty and filling.
Look at the 10 best foods and all you see if boring low fat, low sodium dry bullshi’t. This is the stuff that’ll send you to the bathroom at night with constipation. High protein, low fat meats have been known to produce gastrointestinal issues. Besides, too much protein can get converted into glucose by the body, so stick with fatty, salty meats!
Look at their top 10 worst meats in the link about and make it your top 10 best meats. That should give you a great list of healthy, low carb foods.
