Why do People Dislike Arrogance?

November 10, 2013 by Amir Aribokill 1 Comment

It’s almost like a crime to let arrogance go untouched these days. Any time a politician, athlete or Hollywood star displays the slightest bit of arrogance, people just want to see them burn in Hell. Why all the hate? I mean, the other day, Kim Kardashian put up a “selfie” on twitter that got many outraged. There were comments like “you should be paying attention to your child instead of taking pictures of yourself” and “have more respect for yourself you dirty whore”.

What the fuck? Since when did taking a self picture mean neglecting a child? How about people who have to work 40 hours a week that leave their children with babysitters? Kim takes 40 seconds to take a picture and people are already on her ass. Speaking of her ass, a ton of comments were criticizing her weight. If Adele put a selfie, you’d see women commenting like “you go girl!”, but when Kim does, they hate like there’s no tomorrow.

Floyd Mayweather Jr falls victim to this as well. He’s an undefeated boxer who likes to shi’t on other boxers and calls himself the best. He doesn’t get hit in the ring and his confidence is out of this fucking world. People want to see Mayweather lose. Not only that, but there are comments like “I can’t fall asleep at night until I see him knocked out cold!”. Man, the hate out there is unbelievable.

So why do people hate arrogance so much? Being arrogant means you think you’re better than other people. I guess people see that as disrespect? Maybe they don’t like to think that anyone is better than them? Or that they’re being put down by someone else?

It seems like when someone’s self worth is challenged, they’ll do anything in their power to cause whoever put it in jeopardy to suffer, if they can’t at least prove them wrong. Personally, I don’t give a crap if someone thinks they’re better than me. If I see someone in a Ferrari, I won’t be like “he thinks he’s slick, I hope he crashes!”. I’ll be like “good shi’t, I respect that.” He has a right to feel great about himself. Since we live in a competitive social system, arrogance seems like natural baggage of success in a way.

In sports for example, consistent winning will make people conclude that they’re the best. They begin to believe it based on what’s happening to them. If anything, I think a persons arrogance should be a motivating push for anyone trying to step up their game in life. Don’t hate, learn what you can and focus on yourself!

I’m not sure if you are Muslim, but here’s why a couple billion Muslims do not accept arrogance:

And as always, Allah (Subhannahu Wa Ta’ala) Knows Best.
