The best time to go to the gym really depends on your lifestyle and responsibilities. You want your workouts to fit around your daily schedule conveniently. Try not to fit your workout time in between important events. You never want to be in a position where you have to rush with your workout.
Key Points
- Avoid scheduling workouts in a tight timeline. You never want to rush!
- Skip your workout if you find yourself tired or sick
- If you’re not a morning person, don’t workout in the morning
- Make sure you have time to eat afterwards
- Avoid working out within the first hour of waking up
- Make sure you eat properly before a workout
The Best Time to go to the Gym
The only real rules here are as followed: Avoid working out within the first hour of waking up, avoid scheduling a tight workout that forces you to rush, avoid working out when tired/sick and avoid working out without proper nutrition (before & after). If you can keep these rules in mind, then you can set up any workout schedule that you like.
Morning Workout
Working out in the morning can be great for those who sleep well at night and don’t mind getting up early. Just make sure you have a proper breakfast and at least an hour passes between the time you wake up and when you start working out. The reason for this is because there is a certain fluid that builds up in the spine when we sleep that we need to let drain when we wake up. If we work out as soon as we wake up, we risk injury to our back.
The morning can be the best time to go to the gym, but only if you’re a morning person and you can make the proper arrangements.
Evening Workout
Working out in the evening or at night can work just as well. If you’re the type that’s burnt out after a day’s work, then maybe this wont work for you. If you’re the type that can go home, take a power nap and are ready to roll, then this can work well. Some people prefer working out at night because it makes it easier for the to sleep afterwards.
Just make sure you’re not tired and you’ve given yourself enough time before and after working out. You never know if you have to wait for equipment, how long eating will be, etc. Some people even find working out during their lunch break acceptable for them.
