Three Ways to Keep Your New Year Resolutions

January 1, 2013 by Amir Aribokill Leave a Comment

When a new year comes around, everyone has a health and fitness goal on their new year resolutions list. Unfortunately, many people lose motivation quickly and find themselves on the wrong side of the leaf.

How to Keep your New Year Resolutions

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
Larry Elder

Have Clear Cut Goals

Having a clear, practical goal is probably the most important part of your New Year resolutions. If your goal doesn’t at least involve some specifics, then chances are you won’t stay on track. For example, if someone wants to lose weight and they don’t know exactly how, then they will go off in all directions. This leads to confusion, bad judgement of progress and possible health risks.
Making more money is another common new year resolution. If one doesn’t look for a new system, plan out a strategy and follow it (with room for error of course), then again, they will be spinning in circles.

Make a Short List

Having too many goals is another way to totally crash your new year resolutions. My personal choice is to start with three, MAX. Three big ones to work on through out the year. Once those three are done, then I can think about other opportunities.

Plan Time to Work on Them

A lot of people get occupied with work and other day to day tasks. That leaves little mental energy to keep your resolutions in mind. If your goal is to make exercise a priority in your life, then you should take the time to schedule a specific day to exercise. When something is on your schedule, you’ll feel more motivated to do it.

Your new year resolutions should be really thought out and planned carefully. Plan them a month before, don’t worry about them until the new year starts. Be safe, get healthy and Happy New Year everyone!
