The Hyperloop
On Monday, South African inventor Elon Musk unveiled details on a secret project of his. Something that will change transportation forever. The “hyperloop”. It’s suppose to be a super fast train. Faster than the bullet train.
According to Musk, the Hyperloop, with giant vacuum tubes and an air-bearing suspension system, could take people from LA to San Francisco in about a half hour. Crazy huh? Not really for those who have
been keeping up with science. Actually, maglev technology has been around since the days of Nikola Tesla. In fact, Jacque Fresco of the Venus Project had similar designs using clean, renewable energy. Maglev is the new technology for high speed trains right now. Long overdue if you ask me……
If the Hyperloop would be implemented, it would easily beat out the current world’s fastest, the China’s Shangai Maglev Train, that averages about 250 mph. Bullet trains like that one operate on the frictionless magnetic levitation system, but Musk thinks that would be too expensive for the Hyperloop. If maglev technology were used to its fullest potential, it’s power would be on par with the Hyperloop’s predicted speed. I would have to agree with Musk however. In our current economic system, it’s just too expensive to implement on such a large scale.
Hyperloop and a New World of Opportunities
If the Hyperloop would be implemented as a national transportation system, it has the potential to change the economy. Think about it. If the train can travel from, let’s say LA to NY in an hour, how often would people travel? Assuming of course it was affordable. This means if I’m job searching in Kansas, I can put my search radio across the entire nation. Would that be a good thing or a bad thing?
Comment and leave your thoughts and feelings on how this can possibly change our lives!!
Milco says
It will NEVER be implemented, it will NEVER be constructed even on prototype scale, and no one will invest in infrastructure for this project (probably just China can made first step, like experiment), there is too much obstacles in doing it, most funny is that obstacles are not from science point, but from money point of view.
And – yes – where You will put all “old technology train” workers exactly?
best regards
