Let’s face it, the game of life is money and everyone wants to make a buck. Whether it’s by selling you snake oil or a gallon of bullshi’t vegetable oil. Everyone wants to defend their products because it’s how they make a living. No wonder there is so much misleading information out there. With that being said, what are the good fats and what are bad fats?
Good Fats
The good fats are animal fats, olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, palm kernel oil and dairy. There are some healthy fats in avocado’s too. Surprised? Yeah, we’ve been lead to believe that animals fats and other saturated fats are unhealthy and can cause heart disease. This is actually the opposite. Fat promotes a healthy skin, immune health and helps our body absorb other vitamins & minerals. These fats are very stable.
This pyramid is a good reference on fats. If you still have problems accepting the fact that fat is good for you, please don’t take my word for it. Check out the science for yourself with these two videos (1 and 2). Pull out the bacon, your heart will thank you for it.
Bad Fats
When we want to talk about bullshi’t fat, we’re talking about industrial seed oils. Corn, cottonseed, soybean, safflower, sunflower, and shortening are just a few examples. These fats have not been a part of the human diet up until recently. Many groups have pushed for these fats because they are profitable and convenient to mass produce and market.
To make a long story short, these fats are man-made and chemically processed with extremely high levels of unstable omega-6 fats. I’ll put things into perspective here. The elevated n-6 intakes are associated with an increase in all inflammatory diseases
