Forced fatherhood doesn’t appear to be anyone’s fault, just a flaw in the system we have. Is it fair? If a woman gets accidentally knocked up, she has options. She can take a morning after pill, get an abortion, put the child up for adoption, etc. What options do men have when it comes to an accidental pregnancy? Once the woman is pregnant, they’re screwed. They’re pretty much at her fuckin mercy. This is what leads guys to kick women down stairs and stupid crap like that. They have an incentive to because there’s no way out.
Accidental fatherhood means you’re either forced to take care of the child or forced to pay child support. That’s all you can do aside from begging the woman to do what she’s in control of. The only thing a guy can do is wear condoms. Even then it’s dangerous. How many women would kill for an opportunity to get knocked up and lock down a rich or famous guy? Easy solution! Sabotage the condom and now you’ve got the guy by the balls!
How many times have guys tried to kill their children in order to avoid child support or the responsibility of fatherhood? It sucks, but being cornered like that can make people do all sorts of extreme things to get themselves out of it. It’s not acceptable, but there’s no way out to these people.
It’s easy to tell men and women to be responsible about having children, but that’s not responsible on societies part. Just saying it isn’t enough of a solution. It’s time that this is recognized for the sake of men, women, and children. There should be laws to protect men, women and children of mistakes, not punishments for unintentional mistakes or schemes.
